Sigma Oklahoma Foundation was founded March 5, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, by seven member of the Delta Beta Sigma Chapter. Those members were August J Marigny, Willard C Pitts, Timothy Derritt, Kevin McPherson, Reginald
Smith, Christopher Cunningham, and Michael Sapenter which were the original board members of Sigma Oklahoma Foundation.
The object was to create a non-profit mechanism that could raise funds for many programs
like education, social issues and understanding economics that effects the community we serve. Secondly to create a sharing program between Sigma Oklahoma Foundation and the active Oklahoma chapters of Phi Beta Sigma
The Marigny/Pitts Scholarship honors the legacy of August J. Marigny and Willard C. Pitts through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted underprivileged youth. Marigny/Pitts competitively awards Scholars to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship.
